NCVO

Membership body NCVO has published a job advertisement today for its next chief executive, following the recent announcement of Sarah Elliott’s departure.

NCVO has listed the full-time role, based at its London office with hybrid working, with a salary of £160,000.

Applicants have until 30 June to apply for the role, with recruitment being overseen by NCVO’s trustees and supported by David Fielding, managing partner of executive recruitment firm Attenti.

Elliott is set leave NCVO this summer, after four years in the role, to become CEO of housing and homelessness charity Shelter in September.

NCVO’s chair Priya Singh is also due to leave after her final term ends in 2026 and the umbrella body plans to recruit her successor by autumn this year.

‘Perfect moment for a new CEO’

NCVO wants its next CEO to “drive a comprehensive strategic review process and programme of transformational change” at the organisation, according to the advert.

Final interviews for the CEO position with NCVO’s board members are scheduled for 6 August.

Singh said: “We are seeking an outstanding leader who can build on the strong foundations already in place, while bringing with them the skills, experience and capabilities needed to help us realise our ambitions to be a bold, collaborative and effective voice for the people and organisations we serve.

“NCVO delivers brilliant work to support the sector. To ensure our members and the wider sector are equipped to play their best role, our organisation must continuously evolve and innovate to meet their changing needs.

“As our current strategy comes to an end, and we begin the process of developing our future direction, this is the perfect moment for a new chief executive to lead NCVO through a period of exciting transformation.”

NCVO, a registered charity itself, has around 17,000 charity members and 86 members of staff.

It recorded an income of £12.3m in the year to March 2024, although this was significantly boosted by a one-off back payment from the Charities Aid Foundation.
